What are the numbers in the red and yellow squares?

That shows you how many unread articles you have–red is hidden stories, yellow is normal ones.

Thanks, I’m new here–what are hidden stories, and how do I unhide them? And why would there be a “1” showing when there are no stories visible? Appreciate the help.

Hidden stories have something about them that you marked with a thumbs-down when training your site feeds, usually a tag or an author. If you just want to see what they are, there should be a link at the top of your article list that says “show hidden stories”:

If you want to change it so stories like those are no longer hidden, you can right-click on the feed title in the sidebar or click on the gear icon next to the feed’s name at the top of the article list, go to the Intelligence Trainer, and click any red tags or authors once to turn them green (marking them as something you always want to read first) or twice to return them to unmarked/yellow status.

If the 1 is showing, you might need to refresh the page to show whatever article has been posted since you started reading, or it might be a bug. I haven’t poked around enough myself yet to know which.

Ramen, thanks for the explainer!

Always happy to hear myself talk!

Thanks again. It turned out I had blocked the main author on one of my feeds, quite unintentionally!

I’m glad I was able to help you get it sorted out.
