Hi, I just want to know if it’s me, or an issue with newsblur.
When I go to https://www.tmz.com/rss.xml in my browser, it looks like they’re providing updated stuff, but I see nothing at all in newsblur now.
I don’t THINK I did anything to cause this. Any ideas? Thanks
TMZ started blocking NewsBlur’s servers outright, every request from our IPs gets a 403 from their CDN. When a site does that, NewsBlur fetches the feed through a paid proxy instead, and that proxy is rationed this month because the plan is nearly used up. The rationing was meant for feeds with a single reader, but it caught TMZ too, which has dozens of active readers. I’ve fixed that so any feed shared by several readers always gets the proxy, and TMZ should catch up on the next fetch. Nothing on your end caused it.

Found the cause of the missing images. TMZ’s feed itself only carries a one-paragraph summary, no pictures. The text and images you were seeing came from NewsBlur loading the full article page for Text view and pulling its lead image for the thumbnail, and TMZ now blocks those article-page requests from our servers the same way it blocked the feed. I’ve wired Text view through the same proxy the feed uses, so the full text and images will come back in the next deploy. Stories already in the feed pick it up the next time you open them in Text view.
