I’m not a google reader expat but the news about it’s closing was upsetting to my fiance who loved google reader. I tried to help her out and found the lifehacker article about alternatives and she was not happy with most of the options, but she gave yours a try which didn’t go well 
but came back to try again, because we both assumed you were getting crushed with new subscribers, and she found her new favorite rss reader and introduced me to a better way of following my favorite sites.
