Strikethrough text in post omitted

I noticed today that Newsblur was omitting text from a blog post that was formatted as strikethrough.  See the words in this post following “So how did Secure Channels respond to this criticism?” : http://popehat.com/2015/09/04/how-secure-channels-attempted-to-intimidate-a-critic-and-failed-spectacularly/

The struck-out words just don’t appear for me in Newsblur.com or in the iOS app.

I think I see the issue.  The text displays when “show revisions” mode is turned on - but the text in question is not a revision to the post, it was a stylistic choice by the author (I presume).

So the question becomes, is there any way to distinguish between strikethrough text used for effect, and that which actually represents an edit to a post?  Or would that only be within the control of the post author?

They’re using the wrong strikethrough. There is a strikethrough tag, but they are using the del tag.
