Single article threads do not automatically decrease counter

For feeds that only have a single unread post, it doesn’t automatically decrease the counter - instead I have to click “Next Unread Post” and it marks it read.

Of course not. You have to select the story. There’s a preference if you want the story auto-selected, but this is definitely by design.
