Sam -- USAToday Feed Issues Still Happening

I’m growing tired of reporting this problem without a response. Sam – Can you hear me now. My Newsblur USAToday feed has not updated since this morning even though I’ve fetched and parsed till I turned blue. The same feed in Google Reader has more than 20 articles after the latest article showing in Newsblur. What’s the deal?

How about giving me the NewsBlur URL so I know which feed it is.

Here’s the google link to the same feed. Please compare the two.

HEY SAM – ANY SENSE OF WHY THIS FEED IS NOT UPDATED IN NEWSBLUR AS FREQUENTLY AS IT IS IN GOOGLE READER?

What’s wrong? This feed works perfectly.

Looking at the two feeds, I think the feed generation is busted. I suspect if you looked at the feed with any two different readers, you might see an issue.

As I see them, the two views of the feed (NewsBlur and GoogleReader) look like they contain a lot of the same stories… but the newest story I see in NewsBlur doesn’t appear in the GoogleReader version, and the newest 2 stories in GoogleReader don’t appear in NewsBlur.

There is definitely something odd going on here… but it looks to me to be more than just a NewsBlur issue.

Matthew –
It’s 10:29 P.M. Eastern time. The USAToday feed issue is most obvious now, and is typical of the problem that crops up each day. Compare the Newsblur USAToday feed with the same feed in Google Reader.

Yeah, there is something goofy with this feed. Again, each interface shows a different, semi-overlapping collection of stories. In each one, I can see at least one story that I can’t see in the other one.

Looking closely, it looks to me like they might be re-writing their feed and moving stories around in time. At least one story that I see in both feeds has radically different times on it – about 4 hours delta.

If I *manually* pull down the RSS feed XML and look at it (as of a few moments ago), it fails to match *either* Google Reader or NewsBlur’s output. There is definitely something goofy with this feed – it looks like they are publishing, then un-publishing stories sometimes.
