Yes, it makes it easy to tell unread from read. Did the unread title hex change at all? I find the unread titles to be a little too light. That could be a me problem, and I know you want it to look nice and clean and modern, but just a tick darker would be my preference.
Edit: For instance I was just in the Reddit app so I compared the title color and Reddit is considerably darker and easier to read.
