Questions about Email Newsletter Feeds and Web Feeds

Hey Sam,

I’m a new user of NewsBlur, and I’m loving the app so far. I just have a few questions about some features.

First, web feeds. If you go to newsblur.com/features, it says that web feeds are a free feature. The dedicated page for that feature also says they’re free. But when I actually try to use them on the website, it says web feeds are a Premium Archive feature.

So I’m wondering: are web feeds supposed to be free, and the Premium Archive message is a bug? Or is the documentation out of date?

Second, email newsletter feeds. Are those free? The features page says they are, but after seeing the web feeds issue, I’m not totally sure.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

Good catch, you’re right. Email newsletters are free, that part of the feature page is accurate. Web Feeds are actually a Premium Archive feature though, and the feature page just hadn’t been updated to reflect that. I’ve fixed the page so it says Premium Archive now. The pricing page and the Premium Archive page were already correct, so the bug was isolated to the Web Feeds feature page.

Page scraping is a lot more resource intensive than RSS fetching, so it’s reserved for paid tiers. If you want to try Web Feeds, Premium Archive is $99/year.

Thanks for flagging it!

No problem! Glad I could help!

Hey, I’m not sure the fix went through, it still says Web Feeds are free on my end.

Oh it looks like I forgot to push. 4b6982362421dc3498c6de4643220a3881fd8c73 has the change but I only just deployed it now. It would’ve gotten there eventually but I’ve been out of town for the past week on a team retreat, so it was delayed in getting out.
