I know you guys are overwhelmed… but I just paid for an upgraded account, and it doesn’t download all of the unread stories. I know for a fact that there are more unread stories than are showing. Not a good start.

If services are heavily overloaded, also with prioritization of paying customers, there is no chance to handle all requests or work completely as expected, especially not, if hot-fixes and infrastructure-changes are done in background.
Give Sam some days and be happy then. Each interrupt will just delay the time until everything is fine again…
