My usual usage is to skim over all the story titles and just middle click the ones I want to read, then knock off tabs as I go.
Middle-click to open a new tab for a story works fine (at least on dev). I miss from G reader, though, that doing so would also mark the story as read. It is tedious to open the new tab and also have to open the story so Newsblur
