I have a folder called news, with news based rss feeds. Mostly I will read the top level news folder, but occasionally read a single rss feed (local news).
If I read the single rss feed, mark it as read (with the tick), then go to the top level news folder and mark as read by 7 / 3 days etc it will mark as unread the items in the single rss feed back to the period selected.
