iPhone client: Bigger folder tap targets

Make folder tap targets bigger. For example, most of the times it takes me 2 or 3 taps to hit the Everything folder at the top of my list. Vertical space is cheap so the targets could expand vertically without any loss.

True, I could just expand the folder button. I’ll look into this. The real problem is that I don’t have any folder icons big enough to fit. I’m using free icons, so I’m pretty limited. If somebody from the community made icons that I liked, I’d be happy to use them.

How about using no icon? I know it’s kind of a UI custom to use icons for something like the ‘Everything’ folder, but I can’t think of a symbol that makes sense. That certainly becomes a problem if the connection between the action and the icon becomes week (e.g. representing ‘Save’ with a floppy disk on an iPhone/iPad). Maybe you could draw inspiration from Microsoft’s Metro design (please don’t hate me for the suggestion), it focuses on typography to represent content and actions. Also more and more iPhone UI designers take design hints from that concept like Twittelator Neue http://stone.com/neue/ and Clear http://www.tuaw.com/2012/01/30/to-do-…

I really like the Metro UI. (I was a two-time Microsoft intern, back in '06 and '07, where I learned to hate most Microsoft products, especially the ones I worked on that were both canceled a few months after I left.) I think just increasing the size of that tappable target will do, even if I don’t have a replacement folder icon.

Sounds great to me. Thanks
