I’m glad I found this thread. I’m also desperately looking for this feature or app behaviour. Most of the times I only look through the article headlines and save them straight away. As this is not possible on the iOS Newsblur app - additionaly to saving items to Wallabag (see here) - I’m currently using ReadKit.
Ideally, gesture preferences would solve this issue. Alternatively, long-pressing an item also offers the option to “share”. However, the long-pressing could come up faster.
