On my iPhone, I used to be able to swipe right (left-to-right) on an article in a folder to save it. Now it returns me to the main page? Swiping left on an article brings up the Share/Save/Mark Read trio of buttons, and I can save from there, but that’s less convenient than a simple swipe. I use Save much much more than either Share or Mark Read on an individual article. Is there a setting to have the previous behavior? I didn’t find it under gestures, nor did I see it mentioned previously in the forum
Just upgraded to iOS 26, so not sure if this is a recent Newsblur change or a Apple thing. Thanks!
Yes, this is a change I made. It’s to improve gestures and make it faster to be able to flip between story titles and feed titles. In order to keep behavior somewhat similar, I made it so that you can swipe left on a story title and then choose to save it that way. I don’t think people need to be able to save stories instantly. I think having it as a swipe and then tap is fine. I could be convinced to kind of build in a gesture preference, but it’s a pretty big undertaking to change that back. I need a bunch of people to be like, “I wish I could override the swipe right so that it did a story action instead of going back to the feed list.”
I don’t know how other people use it, but in my usual workflow was to enter a folder, then scroll through the titles. If I saw one I wanted to read immediately, it was a tap to open the article. If I thought it was potentially interesting but would take more time to read, a quick swipe would save it without needing an extra tap or interrupting my scrolling. Then I’d mark the whole folder as read and move on. The saved stories are longer-form content that I read when I have more time to devote to them.
With the current behavior, if I swipe too fast it marks the article as read, and if I swipe slow enough just enough to open the buttons, it requires a little more accuracy to hit the “Save” button rather than the ones on either side. At the moment, I’m fighting years of muscle memory of a quickly stashing an article to be read later while perusing the feed. Change is hard!
Just a thought: Would it be possible/easier to distinguish between fast and slow right swipes (like you have for left swipes) for go-to-feed vs. save story?
