I have had numerous times where it is not keeping my setting of marking a story as read on selection. It keeps defaulting to on scroll, which breaks my consumption model I have used for years.

Same is happening on Android app. Except in my case I have the mark as read on scrollâ enabled. When I scroll past, it gets marked as read. But when I back out of feed and return, the read items show as unread again.
It seems like it gets lost on major version upgrades fyi. It got lost moving to 13, 14, but not 14.5 for me.
Related but different is that setting âmark readâ to âon scroll or selectionâ seems to have stopped working for me at least since the new iOS release. When I say âseems toâ I mean they donât get dimmed like they used to. I think theyâre still getting marked, thereâs just no way to tell without exiting and going back in. This is using grid view.
Seems we launched a per-site mark as read preference but I donât like that since it doesnât match the web. So I reverted it and will launch the fix later this week or next.
In the meantime, you can override the per-site setting by going into the Preferences dialog from the feed list and changing the behavior there. That should stick between feeds.
Ok, the fix for this is going out hopefully tomorrow in v14.5.3. Iâm submitting it now to the App Store.
