Now that Google Reader is closing I need to be able to import my Reader OPML without losing all my existing feeds.

You can import directly from Google Reader or you can export the OPML from Reader and import it into NewsBlur. From reports the second option seems to be more reliable right now.
Note that free accounts are currently limited to 12 feeds due to the overload caused by the Google Reader exodus. I believe this is a temporary measure and it will revert to 64 feeds once Samuel has things stabilised.
