I logged into desktop today and am thrilled to see that potential duplicate stories from other feeds are now grouped under the story you’re viewing in the list feed I love having a variety of RSS feeds but seeing the same story come through 15 times a day gets repetitive. This lets me go to my preferred source, get what I need, and happily mark the rest as read!
Thanks for this and all the improvements you’ve been making lately - excited to see what’s next!
Likewise: really love this. Really solves a problem for me. I was hoping that the related stories would also get marked as read once I scroll past the main story. Is that not how it’s implemented? Maybe your goal was to show other related stories, but I was hoping for a fuzzy duplicates-remover.
It does mark them as read but only for premium archive users. I spell that out in the global preferences and the feed options popover. I think I added it to the indicator tooltip too but maybe not and I should.
Correllation works well for me, maybe a little bit too aggressive. With ca 10 different clusters i have seen now, there was one instance where the stories were related, but different enough in level of detail that I wouldn’t have clustered manually. But definitely good enough to be useful / launch-ready and an great overall improvement to not have clustering.
Marking all stories in the cluster as read/unread doesn’t work for me, although I have premium archive.
If PA is the name of the $99/year tier, then yes I have that. I’ll check the settings to turn on “mark as read” for the entire cluster on scroll.
Samuel, can we expect these new features for the desktop web interface being released this month to make their way to iOS eventually? E.g., the curated new feeds dashboard, related stories (shown under a post), story clusters (this thread), etc.
