How far back or how many articles does the search feature look through?

When I search on a site with heavy updates (like Hacker News), the search feature seems to only go back about 2-3 weeks, but on a less heavy site I get search results up to 1.5 years back. Is there an article limit on how many articles the search feature will look through?

Yes, it’s part of an article limit. The limit is 500 stories. I can’t keep all of them forever, as it’s an enormous cost and not enough of a feature draw to offset its cost.
