To track Google Reader capabilities, allow a user to subscribe to historical data if feed doesn’t exist. For example, Google has historical data for defunct feed http://sanjose72.com/myworld/?feed=atom, and will allow a user to subscribe to this feed antways, allowing them to read historical data collected earlier.
