Feeds provided by a forum built with MyBB do not seem to be retrieved correctly or parsed correctly.

To be honest Feedly or Innoreader are not doing better, but the RSS reader of Vivaldi do retrieve it OK, below the beginning of the code retrieved (I can provide the full version as needed).
Should Newsblur be able to get it right, I would really consider a paid subscription…

I understand. As the feed works in Vivaldi browser that includes a RSS/Atom client maybe it’s done by Vivaldi in a non standard way, I would not know. I shall remain with that solution then.
