Feeds don't update every hour with Premium

According to other comments here, feeds should be updated at least every hour with a Premium account, but a lot of my feeds show an update time of 3 to 5 hours, some of them even 36 to 45 hours. They all have only one or a few subscribers.

Is this a temporary restriction to cope with traffic, or maybe a bug because the feeds were created before having a Premium account?

Hoping for an update here. I have a feed that updates every 80+ hours even though it’s a relatively (2-3 posts per day or so) steady feed.

I’ve got a feed for our local newspaper that only updates every three days to two weeks. I’m on premium, and I know that the feed is updated more than that. It’s still being updated on Google Reader quite often.

Please post the NewsBlur URLs of these feeds. I’m working on rewriting the feed fetch interval this week and I need troublesome feeds to check with.

are the two I have that are being problematic. Also, Engadget appears to be acting erratically at the moment…

Thanks for working on this!

Make sure you go to dev.newsblur.com and right-click on the feed to see its Statistics. That will often tell you *why* it updates infrequently. I’m looking for feeds that have stories published in the last month that are taking > 12 hours between fetches.

I only see the message “Why so infrequently? This site has published zero stories in the past month or has averaged less than a single story a month. As soon as it starts publishing at least once a month, it will automatically fetch more frequently.” on feeds that haven’t published in the last month, same on the production site.

The only feed I can find that matches your description is https://www.newsblur.com/site/197149/…, last post was April 16 and the update time is 36 to 45 hours.

But still, with a Premium account I’d like to have at least hourly updates for *all* feeds, even if they only post weekly or have few subscribers.

I agree with toupeira. I’m using one infrequent feed to monitor changes on a Wikipedia article for changes/vandalism. It can be weeks or months sometimes in-between changes, but I would like the feed updated as quickly as possible after the fact, so if anything needs changed back, it can be done quickly.

I don’t even care for everything, but it would be nice to have an option on specific feeds to change update frequencey.

Both feeds I listed above match that criteria (although one of 'em now seems to be at the every 12h mark, which wasn’t the case this morning). http://dev.newsblur.com/site/1860640/… is still at the 70h mark even though there’s over 70 posts this month…

Thanks folks. I’m about to run the migration that will completely rewrite how feeds are scheduled. All of those numbers are about to change drastically. But if it proves to be too much, I’m going to have to temporarily step down feed fetching until I get it under control. So you know, this is the second last step in the big scaling process I began a month ago.

I, too, was disappointed with how quickly my feeds update after going to Premium. That was the biggest reason I did upgrade to Premium. I only have 11 or 12 feeds that I subscribe too. And many update well beyond every hour.
