This is a problem we have been fighting since Android 5.x introduced some changes to the way sync services are handled. The short fix is to just leave the app, swipe it out of your recent apps list, and start it again. Should go right back to working with no loss of data or anything. Any more info you can provide about how you were using the app or your device might help us finally work it out, though!
