In various WebKit-based browsers, opening a link with “o” results in it loading in the current tab, regardless of settings. Clicking on the link, as opposed to pressing “o” works - ie. it results in the link loading in a new tab.
I have tested:
epiphany (WebKitGTK)
midori (WebKitGTK)
qutebrowser (QTWebKit)
WebKit 601.1 (GTK) and 538.1 (QT)

It does work when jQuery.browser.mozilla=true though
I know for Chrome he had to make a extension to hack around browser to hack around the browser limitations. Did he already fix it at some point to bypass that?
Fixed and deployed. Thanks for the PR! That was key to getting this done.
As of this evening, ‘o’ and ‘v’ are no longer working for opening the current story in a new tab in Chrome (45.0.2454.85 (64-bit)) on OS X Yosemite… related to this fix?
Hi,
thanks for applying it!
As for o/v breaking in Chrome. Yes! That’s my fault :(. I have submitted a fix to Samuel.
I should’ve been more careful, but it worked in my browser (ahem … safari).
