Is it possible that on the list view it doesn’t open the first story? I just want to view the entire list and not be forced to always open the first. Unless I am missing an option or something somewhere. Thanks!

Check your Preferences – on the Feeds tab, there’s an option “When opening a site”. Choices are “Open the first story” or “Show all stories”; you should select “Show all stories”.
