Date parsing problem with feed

I’m having problems with the feed from http://www.sixthtone.com/rss/index.xml at http://www.newsblur.com/site/6275737/sixth-tone-rss

Every story on the feed is showing up as having been published on December 31, 2016 at 7pm. I’m guessing the problem is that they’re using a non-standard date format in their RSS feed, e.g.“2017 Jan 23”

Is there any chance that Newsblur can parse that date correctly, or should I try contacting the site to get them to change to a standard timestamp format in their feed?

You should talk to the publisher. NewsBlur already tries to parse the date using human readable strings. It’s pretty lenient, but in this case that’s just an unrecognized date.
