Click in story pane marks as read

I have the preference set to use ‘u’ to toggle read/un-read state but now when I click within the story pane for whatever reason (usually refocusing on my browser window) it marks the story as read.

Yep, this was changed this weekend. Clicking on a story manually marks it as read.

For someone who has opted for a preference that requires a distinctly affirmative action to “mark as read” this is a bit disconcerting.

Clicking on the story is a manual action, so it makes sense it marks the story as read. In fact, when this was brought up, I thought clicking was already marking the story as read.
