Click and Drag Feed Re-ordering

Hey, I really like NewsBlur (especially with its lovely subfolders), but there’s one thing I was wondering if you could add. In most online RSS readers, you can click and drag feeds (and folders) to re-order them or move them to a different location. I can’t find any way to reorder feeds currently. Would it be possible for NewsBlur to add this in a later release? I’m sure it would be greatly appreciated by many users like myself.

Also, if Samuel Clay (or any other NewsBlur developers?) would like to get in touch with me, my NewsBlur account is linked to the same Facebook profile as my Get Satisfaction account. I’ve done some web development myself so I might try to implement this personally on my fork of the NewsBlur Github repo, but I’d love to talk to the developer directly. Thanks!

I actively removed drag-and-drop because it caused folks to accidentally reorder their feeds constantly. Even if 1 out of every 100 clicks you make is accidentally a drag, that’s a ton of errors.

I’ll be writing an organizer that will allow you to move feeds between folders effortlessly.

Oh, that explains it! I can see that being an issue. I look forward to the organizer.

Please consider re-enabling this as an option. It’s critical to the usability of an RSS reader.

+1 to a desperate need for a way to reorganize feeds AND folders.

+1. Fundamental piece of functionality.

+1 as I really need some way to reorganize the feeds. If not click and drag then something else.

Yup, I agree! It’s coming soon. It’s behind a couple other big ticket features, but it’s on the near-term horizon.

That’s awesome.

Question - what exactly dictates the order right now? I thought alphabetical - so I numbered some of my folders accordingly. However, inside the folders, they aren’t exactly alphabetical?

Idea: turn on/off drag/drop re-ordering as a toggle:

  1. turn it on
  2. do your stuff
  3. turn it off

no accidental drags!

(pretty pretty please? right now it takes me 5 clicks to move a feed to a different folder- context menu->move to folder->expand dropdown->click folder->click save)
