One of the features I miss most from other mobile RSS readers was the ability to skim headlines without reading the article bodies and periodically mark those stories as read. This could be implemented as a two finger swipe upwards or downwards to mark the entries above/below as read without affecting the remaining entries.

Hmm, doesn’t sound very discoverable. The only gestures that are discoverable are one-finger swipes and long presses, both of which are now being used in the coming iOS update (should be out early next week).
Sure. It matters less what the exact input is and more that the features are there.
