Android: Better user experience with slow connections

Hi,

When using the app with slow network connection the user experience is not too good. Reading posts works quite ok but switching between feeds sometimes gets stuck with a loading bar.

So if I read multiple posts from one feed, seems that the app starts syncing the reading status and if that’s still ongoing when I try to open another feed the app is just waiting around.

Suggestion: Make the status syncing a background activity with the user actions given a priority.

Suggestion 2: Incorporate testing with poor connection to your test plan

You’re in luck!  The Android app already has very robust support for operating while on slow, lossy, or entirely offline connections.  Just go into Preferences and enable “Download Stories” to give the app permission to do a little bit of background work ahead of time for snappy reading.
