All the automatic update for my feeds fails while manual parse works

This is really weird. It has been like this for several weeks.

Example feed NewsBlur

All the automatic update fails with Timeout (505), while manually hitting “Parse this RSS/XML Feed” works. I don’t think there is any problem with the feed itself, I self-host the feed myself, and I can visit the feed with my browser.

I don’t know if it is related, but my feeds are not on standard https port 443.

Seems someone else is having the exact same problem. I think it is a wide issue not only affecting myself.

I have the same problem but only for the feeds that are via a self hosted Full-Text RSS (FiveFilters) conversion to full text. Other feeds worked fine.

I went through all of them yesterday to re-enable them by hitting Parse this RSS/XML Feed, this morning a couple were again in this state.

I had not encountered this issue until now. It started a couple of weeks ago I think. It took me some time to realise I had fewer posts to read!

In case it makes any difference I use NetNewsWire to read my Newsblur feeds.

I see the original post in this thread is one year old, does that mean the cause of the problem has not been identified and so this problem may keep occuring?

I wouldn’t assume that this is still happening. I often find individual issues in feeds and fix them throughout the year.

As for your feed, if you have the https://newsblur.com/site/<feed_id> url of the feed, it helps in identifying exactly what’s going on.

It’s still happening. I’ve just insta fetched many sites that were again not automatically updating.

This issue is negating the usefulness of Newsblur to me as it means i have to currently check my feeds in the Newsblur website and manually fetch them again. Noticing an absence is difficult which means i can’t rely on Newsblur working anymore.

Nothing has changed with these feeds on my side so it very much feels as this must be caused by a change in the Newsblur side that happened a few weeks ago. Newsblur was very reliable for me before and i never encountered this issue over the many years i used Newsblur.

As for some feed ids i’d prefer to share them privately. Shall i email you?

Yep, email the newsblur.com url for those feeds so I can see why they aren’t being fetched as often as you expect.

By the way, you can right-click on a feed and open Statistics to see how often they should be fetched compared to how often they are being fetched.
