"All Site Stories" jumps to top in iPad App

I have a problem with the new version of the iPad app. I use the iPad in portrait mode and normally have the “All Site Stories” list on the left side and the current article on the right. Unfortunately, when I scroll down the list of articles, the list frequently jumps back to the top.

What version of the iPad app are you on? I just fixed this exact issue in v 14.4 which came out yesterday. Make sure you’re up to date and let me know if that fixes it.

I still had the older version but even after updating to 14.4, the issue is still there. From my point of view, it looks like the issue might be related to the “endless scrolling” algorithm of the list, because when I get close to the end of the loaded list, the list jumps back to the top but now there are additional items at the bottom. The next jump only occurs when I am back in the lower area and am looking at items that were previously not loaded yet.

I’m having the same issue on 14.4 (324) too.

I’m having the same issue in v14.4 (324) of the iPad app. I especially notice it in my usual ~daily user mode of scrolling down through All Site Stories in left pane, opening one of possible interest into the right pane, tapping the title of the story there if I want to open it in external browser (Safari), then immediately returning from Safari to NewsBlur to keep scrolling down in All Site Stories to do more of the same, effectively using the right pane as a preview to see what I want to open into Safari tabs to read later.

I typically do that starting with a list of a hundred-plus stories in All Site Stories, opening up to ~15 of them, one by one, into Safari tabs to read later, until I’ve gone through all new stories in NewsBlur.

Until a week or two ago, this worked perfectly: each time I opened a story from NewsBlur into a new Safari tab and then returned to NewsBlur, the list of All Site Stories was still in the same scroll position, so I could seamlessly continue going down the list; but now every time I return to NewsBlur, the list jumps all the way back to the top, requiring scrolling past all of those marked so far as read to get back down, each time, to where I was in the list.

Hoping this can be fixed, please. It makes me realize how wonderfully unannoying NewsBlur’s usual user experience is!

Also having this issue in the iPad app. Will also oddly randomly jump a few stories down while scrolling through all stories or a folder. Happens randomly as far as I can tell but often.

Ok, this is now fixed and is in app store review. Here are the release notes:

- Fixed iPad story page redrawing when scrolling the story titles list triggers pagination

- Fixed story titles list jumping back to the selected story on pagination

- Fixed footer row scroll-read not marking the last story as read

- Fixed stale story header color after paging between stories

- Fixed reader refresh causing scroll-read regressions

- Fixed daily briefing notification routing

- Fixed Mac app runaway pagination in grid view

- Fixed crash on Related Sites button in folder view on iPhone

Thank you for the very fast update!

I’m sorry to report that after updating the app just now, the recent undesired behavior of snapping back up to the top of All Site Stories still happens after leaving and returning to the NewsBlur app on iPad.

In case it may help diagnose the issue: an associated, undesired new behavior, since about the same time several weeks ago, is that in the same context of use, the left-hand list of feeds now pops open as well.

Thanks!

Since it looks fixed for me is it possible to record a video showing this? If you wish to keep your feeds from being public, you can private message the video to me.

Yes, certainly will do! Thank you.
