Both Google Chrome and Safari 6 (OS X) support HTML5 web notifications now. It would be cool if NewsBlur would use them to tell me when new stories arrive, people reply to me, people reshare my posts, etc.
Gmail uses these to tell you about new mail. This would be a neat feature for anyone who keeps NewsBlur open all day.
That’s a lot of notifications. I can see a use case for this, but I would want more people to +1 this before I prioritize it.
Sorry for bumping this old thread, but it looks like desktop notification is still unavailable, correct?
Ahh, web notifications have been supported for some time now. Right-click on a feed title and open Notifications to enable web notifications.
