Accessing NB through email application

Samuel,

What do you think about the ability to access Newsblur from your email application? Basically, you’d add an IMAP account to Outlook/Apple Mail/etc, and then you could read RSS feeds from there. When a message is marked as read by the mail client, the story would be marked as read in Newsblur.

Just something I was thinking about, since I often forget to check Newsblur, but I rarely forget to check my email.

You can have NewsBlur email you any feed’s stories (*even filtered) but I’m not sure I love the idea of accessing news feeds in my inbox. In fact, I want as much as possible *out* of my email. That’s why I built the email-newsletters-to-rss feature.

And here I thought we were supposed to be heading in the opposite direction.  ̄_(ツ)_/ ̄

Does NewsBlur mark stories as read when it emails them via notifications? If so, then this issue can be immediately closed. If not, maybe a checkbox that allows said notified stories to be marked as read when they’re sent via email.
