Suddenly I have a panel on my front page showing a handful of entries from All Site Stories. I’ve grayed out the content, but you can see it here: http://imgur.com/a/AzL1U
Is that new? Did I click on something to make it show up? Most importantly: how do I make it go away!?
I just launched it. It’s called the dashboard river. There’s no preference to hide it just as there isn’t for anything else on the dashboard. I’d love to build an exhaustive dashboard that allows you to mix and match feeds and folders for easy reading, but that’s not for a while.
Those of us who are disgusting perverts or just intensely private or both would really appreciate a way hide it. At the very least, is there a unique identifier we can use to hide it in Greasemonkey or similar?
This severely limits my ability to visit Newsblur in public, at the office, or around other people in general.

Thanks. I’m sorry to be so dramatic about it, but I thought of Newsblur’s front page as “safe,” since any questionable content was squirreled away in subfolders. So it was quite a shock to come to the page and see feed items on the front page.
For other Firefox / Adblocker Plus users looking for a quick fix , go to the front page then choose Tools: Adblocker Plus: Select an element to hide. Mouseover the element until “.NB-module-river” pops up, then choose “Add element hiding rule” from the pop-up.
I’m going to take this opportunity to point out that nearly every other reader does not have a dashboard but takes you directly to your “All Site Stories” feed. This is similar in spirit, although this is way more useful as it stays up to date in real-time.
But we chose Newsblur, not any other reader 
It would be nice to be able to choose what is on the dashboard to some extent, or at least perhaps re-order. I am not really a big fan of this new feature.
Is there a workaround for those of us who use uBlock Origin? It does not have the same feature as AdBlock Plus to filter specific elements.
This works for me: in uBlock settings, add to the “My Filters” list:

BTW, uBlock does have a Block Element feature (at least in Firefox and Chrome on Windows), that shows up when you right-click on a page.
Ah, the right-click feature must not be on by default because I don’t see it.
Count me as not a fan, as well. I already have a great mechanism for dealing with All Sites Stories. But moreover, the dashboard widget version contain entries for sites I’m no longer subscribed to, so I can’t really ever “clear” it out.
I agree with Bill, I use NewsBlur as it lets me read my feed they way I want. I rarely view the homepage. Except like today where I saw the new “widget”.
As someone whose All Site Stories has the settings as unread only & oldest first, I do not get much of a real-time up to date benefit from the new dashboard river. We’ll see what happens when I get more used to it, but currently I unfortunately do not see much of a use for the dashboard river in streamlining any of my use cases. If in the future we’ll be able to choose the displayed folder/feed, I think there could be more benefit.
After reading through earlier comments last night, I got a little gung-ho with the uBlock Origin element blocking in Chrome. Check out my screenshot. Got rid of all the stuff I never cared about, including reducing the numbers of frames. No more scrolling dashboard and so much cleaner!!! Even got rid of the never used “All Shared Stories” button.
Select “Enable cloud storage support” in uBlock Origin. That enables manually uploading and downloading. Then download the custom filters to your other Chrome installs and you’re good to go (that is if you have multiple computers with Chrome). Also, it’s worth checking out their documentation on this feature by clicking the “i” button, although not for the “tech faint of heart”.
One thing I’ve noticed is that it seems to be showing me stories from 2012 and 2015 which I wouldn’t expect.
Yeah, when Google Reader first came I the reason I bailed on it initially was it was set to a ‘waterfall’ mode with all sites mixed together. I’d also like a way, within Newsblur, to hide the All Sites Stories panel. Thanks.
I’ve also noticed this. Quite strange, and as far as I can tell, random.
This “dashboard river” is pushing the “what’s new” and “recommended site” off my screen. I liked seeing those when I open Newsblur. I don’t care for having the dashboard river, because that river is just a click away on the left sidebar.
