was the name “newsblur” inspired by a thought, or simply driven by domain-name availability? I just got wondering why “blur”…

It’s the opposite principle. By stating the opposite of what I’m doing (helping you focus on stories), I can re-appropriate the word and use my own meaning. It’s quite common, but this way I’d never have to worry about name collisions or similarities with competitors.
