Stories opened from iPadOS app into browser returning as unread

I am having an issue that only arose recently, after adding the newsblur app to my iPad. The problem is not happening when using the newsblur app on my android phone or when opening newsblur in my desktop browser.

What I am observing is that when I am viewing an already read and saved story in the app, and click the top link to open it in safari, and then fully open it in safari, once returning to newsblur that item appears once again in my list of unread stories, even though it has already been read and saved. The item appears unread across all platforms (i.e. iPadOS, android, and browser versions). Thanks.

Same issue here. If I read items on my iPhone, they are not marked as read, but are still present as unread at the website. However, if I try to read one such item at the website, nothing opens and the only way to get rid of it is to right click & mark as read. Any assistance with this would be appreciated.
