Share to Google+ without publicly "+1"ing

Great to see the addition of sharing to Google Plus. However I would much prefer it if I could do it without publicly "+1"ing it at the same time.

You find me the URL to do this at and I’ll implement it. Couldn’t find it myself.

Hey Sam, I may be blind (as usual) but I am wondering whether there is a way to ‘share’ from inside NewsBlur to G+ - even WITH a Plus one. A simpler way to put this; "could the Share link include a Plus link? That way my NBlur index counts the other 75% or so of shares I make to that destination, and I don’t have to jump out to the article to share it.

"If I don’t ask, you can’t tell me ‘Yes!’ "

OK, I finally found where I can +1 an article using the “EMAIL STORY” option but… when the new tab opens, it’s blank - entry fields display fields and commit/cancel buttons missing. They’re there for a fraction of a second, and then gone. Is there a plug-in it’s quarrelling with maybe?

Yeah, doesn’t look like Google has a usable URL for sending users over to +1 a site. As soon as they expose this, I’ll re-implement it. This used to work but no longer.

Looks like it would be pretty straighforward to generate these though Michael Waltz’s link is probably more robust for the long-term.

And no, Kevin, that button is not the same thing and I don’t want to add that clutter to the UI. But Google came through and built that new share dialog.

Can you please add that to the “Share This Story” button in the article on the right side. Right now it has only Twitter and Facebook. Won’t Google+ button fit over there?

Or maybe if you put all share options in a more convenient place than in the popup that appears on right clicking the article title? An idea would be to have ONE share button as in Android OS and on clicking that, the user gets to choose where he/she wants to share.

But they are different concepts of “share”. The share on the right is the real share. The other is a Send to. What would be nice is a keyboard shortcut to Send to. I’m planning on building some sort of keyboard manager and this will be included.

Where on the UI am I looking for the G+ functionality? I found the Instapaper/Facebook/Twitter ones but didn’t see anything that indicated the ability to send to G+.

There’s also https://developers.google.com/+/api/l… if you want to try a method that doesn’t involve a new window. The new-window method probably produces a better share though.

I found it. You have to open preferences (the gear on the bottom below the feed list, then click preferences). It’s under the Stories tab – you can select the sharing services you want.

Any news on the keyboard manager? Missing “share to” keyboard shortcuts. Besides that, happy new user!
