Reeder displays articles trained as hidden

I’m using NewsBlur with Reeder. I notice that stories hidden in the NewsBlur web app as a result of training has no effect in Reeder where they continue to appear. If this a known issue? If so, can it be addressed?

Thanks…

Yeah, I know! Tweet @reederapp politely requesting that at the very least he hides hidden articles (articles with a negative score). Positive/Focus articles would be nice, but hidden articles are a much more important target.

I have this problem as well with both ReadKit and Reeder. Many hidden articles stay hidden, but several make it through each day. Must be an API problem.

Hmm, that’s interesting. What I may do is just not give hidden stories to clients such as Reeder and ReadKit. I give them because native NewsBlur clients have a “Show Hidden Stories” button.

That makes sense. Do you have a list of authorized clients exposed in settings somewhere? It almost seems like it would be worth doing a per-client setting.

An alternative would be to exclude hidden items unless a client explicitly acknowledges that it implements scoring/asks for hidden items.

Neil, that’s brilliant. Working on it now.

Ok, this is launched. It might cause some issues, although I hope not. Reeder should now not have any hidden stories (although I recommend clearing its cache), and the web should show them just fine. Same goes for Unread app and ReadKit (and any other third party readers).

As the OP I extend a sincere thank you to Samuel and Neil for working on a fix of this issue.
