Please consider adding a $48/year option

I rely on newsblur way too much to justify paying only $36/year. I’ve played with the idea of creating a second account, but I’d prefer to just pay more for my premium (no extra features) account.

I hope that I am not alone in wanting to offer more support for this excellent service.

I used to have three options and when I switched to two the rate at which the higher option was selected went up. Here’s the average payment amount per year since NewsBlur began charging.

2010-01-01 - 2010-12-31: $12.00

2011-01-01 - 2011-12-31: $14.94

2012-01-01 - 2012-12-31: $16.70

2013-01-01 - 2013-12-31: $23.61

2014-01-01 - 2014-12-31: $24.00

2015-01-01 - 2015-12-31: $24.38

2016-01-01 - 2016-12-31: $24.67

2017-01-01 - 2017-01-04: $24.44

That said, it may go up a bit but I feel like it’s too confusing to have so many options. Better to have the tier that says you support my work and we both feel good about it. That’s what the $36/year option is for.

Besides, if all goes well you’ll have the opportunity to pay a bit more for some new hardware I’m launching on Kickstarter on February 7th. Signup for a preview on turntouch.com.

This reminds me – I wanted to switch from $24 to $36 when my subscription renewed in November, but couldn’t figure out how to do that…

It’s under Manage > Account > Payments > Change Credit Card.

You could gift a years subscription to friend or someone? That would generate future profit for Samuel when they decide to renew themselves

Samuel, that is really interesting about the average payment, thank you for sharing it. I can see how too many options would seem confusing.

I want to like the idea (below) about gift accounts but I worry about getting people who are not already heavy news readers. Antidotally, I have tried to get a couple people interested, but they never build the habit.

Anyways, thank you for the excellent product!

Agreed, or just an option to put whatever amount it.

Signed up for turntouch.com … interesting.
