It would be quite awesome for my use case, if I could import feeds into NewsBlur from an OPML file from Liferea.

What luck – you can! Just go to the Add Site dialog (the green plus at the bottom-left) and there you will see a way to upload your OPML file. Easy.
Consider me impressed.
