Mouse hovering over a story now marksit as read instead of clicking on them

Items are being marked as read when my mouse hovers over them, not when I click on them. So without scrolling down to an unread story, the very first story that pops up becomes marked as read even though I simply moved my mouse over the pane in which the item appears. I’m using up-to-date Chrome on XP, version 29.0.1547.66 m

You can lock that mouse indicator by clicking on the little orange triangle that follows your mouse.
