Listen: NewsBlur reads your stories aloud on the web, iOS, Mac, and Android

Thanks for all of this feedback!

Next button: the mini player on the web, iOS, and Android now has a Next story button, so you don’t have to open Now Playing or reach for the car controls.

Headlines: rather than a headlines-only mode, Listen now notices when the headline is repeated at the top of the story and reads it once. That covers Techmeme’s format, where the body opens with the byline and the headline before the excerpt.

Offline: not possible with how this works. The audio is generated by ElevenLabs when you press play and only saved after someone has listened to it, so there’s nothing to download ahead of time.

Listen at the top: on iOS and Android there’s now a Listen button in the toolbar while you’re reading, so you can start without scrolling to the bottom.

Folders: Listen already works at the folder level. Open a folder, start Listen on any story, and Now Playing shows “Then from” that folder with the upcoming unread stories from every feed in it. If you saw it stick to one feed, let me know what you had open and I’ll dig in.

One more change: listening limits are now weekly instead of monthly, 10 hours a week on Premium Pro and 1 hour a week on Premium Archive, resetting every Sunday. And for picking a voice, the ten recommended voices for each language are the place to start. You don’t need to audition the whole library.

The web changes are live now and the app changes ship with the next iOS and Android updates.
