It would be great to have the total unread count displayed as a badge on the iOS icon.

…but as an option! 
I don’t like having icons taunting me with alerts for things that are non-essential.

We all love options Different tastes, different options. I personally like to see whether I have 300 new news articles I have to comb through or if I only have 20.
Yes, please. I actually forget to check Newsblur on iOS, because I can’t see the unread count.
