Automatically mark first item as read

I usually browse new items by folder and it is quite common to have just one new item within a folder. As the item’s contents instantly gets loaded, I just read it/decide it is not interesting, without clicking anywhere. Doing this, the story will not be marked as read. I still have to click the story to mark it as read.
It would be great to have a setting to enable marking an item as read as soon as its contents is presented on the screen.

Manage > Preferences > Auto-select first story. That should do it.
