Linked pages load automatically. In particular, sites like Daring Fireball - with excerpts - and re/code, with teasers, seem now to automatically move to the linked site. I’m unsure if this is an application change or a setting change I made. Either way, I can’t seem to figure out how to make it stop.

Looks like the answer was switching from Story mode to Text mode. Must’ve grazed it, and since I can’t remember ever using it, I never seemed to actually see it before.
Yeah its a trade off between discoverability and usage patterns. I try to make it clear by having only a single bar on the top and bottom of the story view. But I agree that it can be confusing.
