Astronomy Picture of the Day Feed is 1 Day Behind in Newsblur

The NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day feed (https://apod.nasa.gov/apod.rss) always appears to be 1 day behind. If I view the feed in my web browser, I see today’s entry (Pandora Close Up at Saturn), but Newsblur insists that the latest entry is Comet 45P Returns, which was yesterday’s entry. Am I doing something wrong somewhere?

What a curious feed. The top item links to “http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html” but every item after that links to its correct permalink, like “http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap170102.html”.

Once that day goes by, the top item gets its own permalink and the new top item gets that astropix.html link again. But the issue si that NewsBlur uses that permalink to indicate the story, so it finds the last astropix.html story and replaces it. It’s the story de-dupe mechanism working perfectly. In essence, APOD is saying that the top story is the old story, so replace it.

In other words, they should fix their feed!

Cool! Good to know that I’m not going crazy.

I’ll try to find a contact link to let them know of the issue. NewsBlur rocks!
