Android: can't mark feeds as read

For almost a week i have tried to mark various feeds as read in the phone app only to have them reappear in the main list. I have tried logging out and then logging back in, checked for an update and then uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. None of these actions have helped. Is there anything you can recommend I try?

It looks like this is related to the other outstanding issue on Android, which is that unread counts aren’t always going down as you read stories. This is now our top priority on the Android app, so you can bet it’ll get fixed next.
